CULTURE OF CANCUN

The construction of the Mexican culture is the result of a historical process that involves power relationships, peaceful exchanges, assimilation of exogenous cultural elements and reinterpretations of existing cultural elements.
Arriving at Cancun we discover that culture is deeply rooted in every inhabitant of the place. We will notice travel traditions such as the Carnival or the burning of dolls and old objects to receive the new year.
This is the rhythm of music that does not have a unique style. You hear all kinds of music from the reggaeton (very common in Central America), northern, punk, pop and electronic music.
As is the case of all Latin American countries, when Mexico was freed from Spanish rule, his people did what is given to call national identity.
Cancun is a cosmopolitan city full, for its diverse mix of cultures. We find people from different parts of Mexico (taking advantage of economic opportunities).
If we were to highlight a particular culture would be the Mayan civilization that existed in surrounding lands.
Mostly the population is Catholic. However, and not least we find Jehovah's Witnesses, the Baptist Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Evangelical Churches, among others.
In Cancun there are places that are part of their culture and most of its history are:
• The Cruise
• The Parian Tianguis
• Market 23
• Artisan Park (Luum-Pakula)

The national flag is a rectangle divided into three vertical stripes of identical measures, each color with a different meaning: the green symbolizes the hope of the people in the fate of their race, the white represents the purity of the ideals of the people and the Red symbolizes the blood that spilled the heroes for the homeland.
Center the flag, the white strip, it contains a shield, this coat of arms has its origins in the hieroglyphics used by the Aztecs to represent the foundation of Tenochtitlan.
The legend tells that the Aztecs (one of the most important indigenous tribes which had Mexico) lived alone in Aztlán, when their main God named Huitzilopochtli spoke with priests and told them they had to abandon Aztlan to search for a new Earth where would have riches, power, and where a new town was founded; and that when they find an Eagle perched on a cactus devouring a snake would have reached the promised land; After approximately 302 years found the signal and hence founded Tenochtitlán and thus, this event is considered as the foundation of Mexico and its importance was adopted as a symbol of the coat of arms.

The coat of arms of the municipality of Benito Juarez, who is also representing the city of Cancun, was designed by the artist chetumaleño Vital Jesus Carmichael Jiménez (Elio Carmichael) is divided into three parts: the blue color symbolizing the Caribbean Sea, the yellow sand and red rays of the Sun.
